WE PROMOTE LITERACY
in communities of color:

The CEOs, doctors, and engineers don’t always look like us or have been through similar life experiences that we’ve been through. Mentors help our girls to see and realize that their dreams and aspirations are actually possibilities for them.”

WE PROMOTE LITERACY IN COMMUNITIES OF COLOR:
We accomplish this goal through various mediums: the IWE Festival, which is an urban book and culture festival promoting Black businesses, authors, and artists; Youth Literacy Engagement Sessions, where we provide on-site literacy sessions with children and families; and free book giveaways and donations to support community events and programs.
PROMOTE CULTURAL ACTIVITIES:
Our goal is to provide a range of cultural experiences for our youth. These experiences include college tours, guest speaker engagements, movies, operas, and programs. Accompanied and supported by mentors, our youth learn tolerance, acceptance, and appreciation of those things that are different to them.
